At first glance, the unrecognizable twin of the RICOH fi-7700 scanner, which offers exactly the same capabilities, including the fastest A3 flat bed in the world of document scanners.
The only model (apart from its twin RICOH fi-7700) in the entire RICOH family of scanners (PFU) with an A3 (integmented) flatbed.
Thanks to its sophisticated design (placing the ADF on the lid of the flat bed), it is also the most compact and ergonomic A3 scanner on the market.
It allows an ADF unit to be rotated within 180° and furthermore to shift almost the entire length of the flat bed lid.
However, it is depleted by a single “camera” (CCD unit) at the top of the feeder. The letter “S” at the end is so marked “Simplex”, that is, you can scan only one side of the documents (front) through the automatic feeder.
However, this feature is quite noticeable on the price of the scanner and is therefore ideal for certain types of projects (for example, digitization of historical archives or one-sided documents or, in short, where more or less just a flat scanner bed is required). The absence of a camera is also reflected in the reduced height and weight of the scanner.
The RICOH FI-7700S scanner achieves a lower scanning speed from the feeder (ADF): 75 sheets/75 images per min., but “from the glass” the speed remains the same: 0.6 sec. [A4 landscape, 200/300 dpi, color/black/grayscale].
It can hold up to 300 sheets in the feeder at a time, but thanks to the lower speed it also has a lower but still very respectable daily capacity/recommended daily load/volume: 33,000 sheets.
With its high-quality technologies and user-friendly design, the scanner is suitable for continuous high-volume single-sided “simplex” scanning or scanning from glass.
It still uses image capture technologies using CCD units (mirror cameras).
The scanner's ability to scan various documents such as thin paper, plastic cards, envelopes and long-page documents increases user productivity and provides versatility of use and utilization.
